📍 𝗗𝗔𝗟𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗘: 𝗔 𝗝𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗡𝗘𝗬 𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛 𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗬

Dalhousie, for a change, is not named after any divinity or sage, unlike other Himachali hill stations. This charming town was named in honor of Lord Dalhousie, a former British governor.
🌲 Flooded with scenic beauty, Dalhousie attracts vacationers with its dense forests, rich flora and fauna, rivers cutting through valleys, and the majestic Dhauladhar ranges surrounding it from all directions. The British-era churches and colonial structures add historical charm to the town.
Netaji Subash Chandra Bose found this place so enchanting that he stayed here for nearly three months in 1937. To honor his legacy, two locations in town are named after him.
🚣‍♂️ Chamera Lake, formed by the Chamera Dam on River Ravi, offers fun activities like kayaking, boating, and fishing.
🏞️ Just 15 km away lies the breathtaking Khajjiar, known as the “Switzerland of India”, famed for its Khajjiar Lake and Kalatop Sanctuary overlooking the village.
📸 Dainkund Peak, facing the vast pastures of Khajjiar, is another can’t-miss spot. The picturesque views from the top are perfect for capturing unforgettable memories.
🛍️ Mall Road, like in most hill stations, is buzzing with cafes, bakeries, restaurants, shops, and hotels, offering everything from souvenirs to street food.
🛣️ Dalhousie is located in the Chamba district, around 560 km from Delhi-NCR, accessible via the Chandigarh–Delhi road.

– By Air: The nearest airport is Gaggal Airport in Dharamshala. You can fly from Delhi or Chandigarh and hire a cab from the airport to Dalhousie. Cabs are also available from Amritsar, Delhi, and Chandigarh airports.
– By Train: Pathankot is the closest railway station, well-connected with cities like Delhi, Amritsar, and Jammu. From there, a hired cab can take you to Dalhousie. Cab pickups are also available from Kalka, Chandigarh, Amritsar, and Delhi railway stations.
