Surrounded by thick coniferous forests and the majestic Dhauladhar Ranges, lies the picturesque town of Dharamshala. The town is divided into two parts: the lower part, which houses Kotwali Bazaar, government offices, and other urban amenities, and the upper part, famous for its vacation industry called McLeodganj.
Dharamshala has become a popular tourist destination, particularly for trekkers and those seeking adventure. Triund Trek, with its base camp at Dharamkot (near McLeodganj), is one of the most admired treks, offering stunning landscapes along the journey.
McLeodganj is home to many Tibetan refugees who followed the 14th Dalai Lama in 1959 after Tibet came under Chinese control. Thanks to the exiled Tibetan population, the town is home to several Buddhist hermitages, libraries, and galleries that preserve Tibetan culture.
Key attractions include the Bhagsu Nag Waterfall, Kaveri Lake, and Dal Lake, each adding to the town’s charm. Additionally, the lush green tea farms in Palampur, with their beautifully terraced slopes, are another sight to behold.
Naddi, a peaceful village just a few kilometers from McLeodganj, offers a serene escape from the bustling city life. The village is inhabited primarily by the Gaddi tribe, with a blend of Tibetan influence.

𝘽𝙮 𝘼𝙞𝙧: Gaggal Airport is the closest airport, located about 13 km from Dharamshala. Cabs are available to pick you up from Delhi, Chandigarh, or Amritsar airports.
𝘽𝙮 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣: The nearest railway station is Pathankot (about 90 km away). Cabs can be hired from Pathankot, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Kalka railway stations.
